Inferno

An altar within the depths of Inferno.

Inferno is a strange, other realm or dimension. Little of it is fully known, however, Moorland the Mighty was known to have predicted its attack on the galaxy months before. Inferno's denizens besieged the galaxy for reasons not truly known, though it was believed that it wanted to subsume the galaxy. Even Moorland is not fully aware why.

The reality of Inferno is a very surreal, hypnotic landscape of sizzling walls, necropolises formed of the bones of their inhabitants, and mind-breaking gates of immense magnitude. The invasion was managed by a legion of incredibly powerful beings known as Gatekeepers, that would use their will and power to throw open gateways from which Inferno's demon spawn would crawl out to attack. During the invasion, it was Norlander forces and command that primarily handled the gateways that opened, though gateways were also known to open within the borders of the A222 Empire, the Bedran Marches and the Klemorian Empire. A gateway was known to open in The Metallus, and an Inferno invasion force attacked the Beraltian Conclave, though no gateway opened there.

Assault on Forwardbase Rubrum Alpha[]

The most immediate attack in the galaxy by Inferno was on Forwardbase Rubrum Alpha, a Senate-based military forward operating base and listening post, as well as Rubrum Beta, which were located on two natural satellites on the farthest edge of "Sourthern" space. Nearly all personnel were slaughtered. Intel is largely unknown due to the extremely eviscerated bodies being unidentifiable on a grand scale, and many personnel being missing; likely having been taken into Inferno upon possession.

Assault on Forwardbase Rubrum Beta[]

The twin Forwardbase to Rubrum Alpha, Rubrum Beta, was attacked. However, a sizable chunk of the facility was entirely displaced and lost into Inferno itself.

First Assault on Inferno[]

Details are incredibly hazy, though it is apparent that some individuals, or perhaps even just one individual, wreaked havoc on some areas of Inferno roughly around the same time the Rubrum forwardbases were attacked, likely as a highly effective counterattack.

Skirmishes in the Gateway to Angenvine[]

Several initial gateways on the Norland world of Angenvine, where much of the ground fighting commenced, were counterattacked with extreme efficiency as they were opened. This is also where the First Assault on Inferno was confirmed based on some of the already-present destruction.

The Battle of Angenvine[]

The first major conflicts in the war were set on Angenvine, where a major gateway was opened and various skirmishes began immediately, escalating to full-scale battles on the planet and in orbit. Inferno's corruption on Angenvine also distorted reality there in some places, though this was mopped up in time.

The Counterattack on Inferno[]

After much of the fighting on Angenvine resulted in Norland victories (alongside support from other Galactic Senate members in the area), a counterattack commenced where Inferno was counter-invaded and the Gatekeeper there destroyed, resulting in a major victory against Inferno.

Serzyn Sweep & Clear Operation[]

The Bedran planet of Serzyn was a major fighting location for some time, though many forces retreated in trade for counter operations by Bedran Spectre forces. Serzyn did experience various hardships in its conflicts though; many Spectre squads were slaughtered to the last man.

Corruption of the Mind Vault[]

Instead of using a Gateway method, one of the last major battles involved Inferno naval craft that assaulted the Beraltian Mind Vault, leading to major corruption, however, this was promptly eliminated and the corruption repelled by Beraltian combat units.

Invasion of Batterium[]

The last major conflict in the Inferno Invasion was on Batterium, where Metallus scientists attempted to create anti-Gateway technology which promptly backfired. Extreme fighting commenced on Batterium, in which Metallus forces were able to repel their attackers due to familiarity and already-existing attrition-based defenses on Batterium, and Metallus forces were able to counter-invade and destroy the Gatekeeper in the area.
