Klemorians (Sometimes known as Tyrants or Devil-Folk) are one of the oldest-living sapient races in the Galaxy, formerly ruling nearly a third of its volume under the Klemorian Empire. They are known to be the largest sapient species in the galaxy (that is not capable of manually changing their size regularly through life), towering over Humans and countless other galactic species, and live to a thousand years. This extreme biological advantage in physical power and age was what allowed them to conquer the galaxy, though the extreme length of time tied to their maturity would later prove to be their downfall.
Upon the Rise of Humanity, Humans were able to severely outpace Klemorians in generational rates and technological advancement, severely outnumbering and outgunning the Klemorians during the expanse of the A222 Empire and the Norland Imperium.
Biology & Physiology[]
Klemorians are a humanoid species, having a body containing a torso, two arms, two legs and 5 digits per limb. They are mammalian-like, though have long shed their hair. Males, especially in youth and early maturity, grow mane-like hairs that are especially thick around the tops of their heads and necks, and thinner around the face overall, and typically end in a sharp point toward the bottom. Females are known to grow very long hair at the tops of their heads, which is typically very straightened. Klemorian hair colors are generally restricted to black or silver coloration, at its most colorful being a very silvery brown.
Klemorians are known to be frightful or wicked in appearance, likely attributed to their time of tyrannical domination which has given a permanent social fright to their appearance. Klemorians possess two eyes, typically purple or dark blue in color, a very concave, upturned nose shape that strongly exposes their nostrils, two ears on either side of their face, distinct with a upward-pointed, narrow shape, and a thin mouth with an arrangement of incisors or canine teeth (in which, males typically have longer such teeth than females). Klemorian faces are known to sometimes grow snout-like, where the jaw generally grows to be slightly convex, though very slightly so. This is believed to be a vestigial mutation not bred out of their species (typically believed within their society to be a sign of natural ferocity, which is socially encouraged).
The most famous element of Klemorian biology is by far their size. Klemorian males average at the height of roughly 10'4", while females trail behind them at 10'2". This titanic frame dwarfs nearly all species in the galaxy, and gave them an extreme edge in combat during the Klemorian Wars. This size gives them a natural resistance to weapons typically geared toward smaller targets, especially due to their natural ability to maintain muscle mass and the relatively smaller size of their organs in trade for more of them (possessing two hearts, for instance) that makes vital organs minimal and hard to damage or disable.
As Klemorians age, they typically lose more hair closer to their face and have it grow closer to and across the neck, and their skin pales (if possible) while their hair greys. Especially older Klemorians develop a distinct facial structure that almost looks dried or "craggly", and may even develop non-symmetry in their faces, especially in males (leading to females having a sort of "agelesssness" sometimes attributed to them, which is untrue scientifically). There is a rare birth defect in Klemorians that accelerates this particular process, which can lead to relatively young Klemorians sporting non-symmetrical faces with sharp protrusions in their lips and gaunt structure.
Klemorians are known to be nocturnal, and have great vision at night. Ancient Human scholars attribute Klemorians to being "chiropteran-like".
Ecology[]
Klemorians are known to be fairly cooperative, though not to the same capacity as Humans or Beraltians. Klemorian social structure still encourages a degree of some individualism, but where possible to mingle frequently. Curiously, it is irregular for Klemorians to spend time with particular individuals regularly, typically preferring to start new relationships consecutively between points of momentary isolation. Klemorians have no concept of romance or intimate relationships, though there is an extensive relationship had maternally, between mothers and their children, which typically doesn't last long past maturity. Bouts of Klemorian isolationism are known to include hibernation-like periods of slowed metabolic rates and meditation, likely tied to their extreme lifespans.
Klemorians are omnivorous, frequently feeding on fruits natural to their home worlds, infamously known to be large and have tough skins which they use their fanged-teeth to puncture in order to consume. Klemorians also enjoy rare-cooked meats as a delicacy, and can even receive viable nutrition through blood, though this is typically used more as a "scare tactic", and Klemorians rarely survive by such means.
