The Rogrinian Empire, though ancient, is one that has known struggle for nearly the entirety of its existence. Its early colonial operations would prove to be ill-fated when the Klemorian Empire arrived to their expanse and, hungry for conquest, engaged the Rogrinians in battle. To the near-total shock of the Klemorians, however, the Rogrinians were able to prepare highly sophisticated defenses with unparalleled nationalistic fervor due to the idea of a triumphant last stand against a tyrannical, unparalleled alien force.
Between the extreme expanse of space that the Klemorians had to stretch, an underestimation of their opponent's skill and technology, and the extremely sophisticated and effective militarization of Rogrinian assets, they were able to fend the Klemorians off into their inevitable stagnation. However, the Klemorians employed one last devious strategy of chemically bombing the Rogrinian colonies and homeworld. Despite their triumph, the Rogrinian victory was highly pyrrhic, and the consequences of their victory would stick with them forever.
Rogrinians had lost too much to further expand or colonize, and the chemical alteration of their atmospheres forced them to adapt to toxic and corrosive atmospheres to survive. They would to adopt the iconic Envirosuit technology for them to be able to survive outside of toxic environments on other planets, and colonization of future worlds would demand extensive resources to make them comfortable to operate in without Envirosuits. It would take over three thousand years for the Rogrinians to fully recover into a recognizable galactic power, and their sole neighbors of the Beraltian Conclave would leave them empty-handed with any support or allies.
Being unable to expand further around the galaxy, and expansion itself being a difficult process, the Rogrinians underneath this Empire turned to isolationism and inclusivity. They witnessed the Rise of Humanity with nothing but apathy, and focused themselves on technological advancement like their neighbors. Rogrinian technology, as a result, flourished, with Rogrinian pioneering plasma weapon technology and effective, unique neoballistics.
It wasn't until the creation of the Systems Senate in 1643 ABA that Rogrinians even made any effort to converse or engage in diplomacy on a grand level, though this turning age in the Rogrinian Empire was significant for the civil war that loomed. As the Rogrinian Empire began to expand once again, they elected suggestion to engage their technology in a weaponized fashion to subjugate what systems they could afford to conquer and force their toxic terraforming technology on immediate habitats for the scientific pursuit of potentially shedding their Envirosuits, though this stance was deeply unpopular with quite a number of the population, suggestion its familiarity with the Klemorians that had done this to them millennia ago.
This rift would explode into the Rogrinian Civil War in which the more progressive, secessionist Rogrinian Union had opted at first to cede from the Empire and form their own path, though the extremity of the war and the turn of its favor to the Union has seen them express interest in fully eliminating the Empire. The Rogrinian Empire by comparison has suffered extremely at the hands of the civil war, with them having lost a multitude of systems and support, and the general majority of the population favoring the Union over the Empire. With the recent loss of two major Rogrinian generals and the former Emperor, the Rogrinian Empire has even been commonly referred to by Unionists as the Mityis' Remnant.
